Many skin disorders can be treated with light.
Phototherapy PUVA and UVB
THIS TREATMENT IS TEMPORARILY NOT AVAILABLE
PUVA or photochemotherapy is a type of UV treatment consisting of taking a Psoralen (a medicine making your skin more sensitive to UV light) followed two hours later by exposing the skin to very low doses of UVA radiation.
Narrowband UVB phototherapy is a type of UV treatment where the most beneficial component of natural sunlight (with high anti-inflammatory properties) is used. It has the advantage that no psoralen needs to be taken.
Phototherapy with UVA and UVB are used for treatment of psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, sun allergy and other skin disorders.
A phototherapy cabin for both UVA and narrowband UVB therapy is available at our practice. This treatment usually requires 2 or 3 sessions per week during 4 to 8 weeks.
